Umbrella Liability intends to provide excess coverage for underlying insurance policies in the event of a catastrophic losses.
Umbrella Liability is written in million dollar limits excess over a commercial auto policy, commercial general liability and the employer's liability portion of workers' compensation policies. Aircraft or watercraft liability policies might also be able to be scheduled as underlying or primary coverage.
The coverage intends to pick up where the underlying policy's each claim or aggregate limits are exhausted or in some cases where coverage included on the umbrella policy is not included on the underlying policy.
